Ian Goodman

Ian is a Registered Patent Agent in both Canada and the United States, Registered Trade-mark Agent in Canada, and an associate lawyer at Sim & McBurney and Sim Ashton & McKay LLP. Ian practices in the areas of patent drafting, prosecution, and opinion work. He has expertise in the areas of biotechnology, medical devices, and mechanical and chemical engineering. In addition, Ian prepares and files industrial design applications.

Ian received his B.Sc. Biology (Cell Biology and Genetics) from the University of British Columbia and is a graduate of the joint Canadian-American law program at the University of Windsor and University of Detroit Mercy. Ian is a recipient of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada’s Education Foundation Prize for achieving the highest mark on the Canadian Trade-mark Agent Examination in 2011.

In his spare time, Ian enjoys Ultimate Frisbee, playing his guitar, and connecting with friends.
