Evangellos W. Vekris, Ph.D.

Evangellos is a Patent Agent in both Canada and the United States, and an associate at Sim & McBurney. He practices in the areas of patent drafting, filing, and prosecution. He has expertise in the areas of materials science, semiconductor processing, metallurgy, photovoltaics, MEMS, photonics, and nanotechnology.

Evangellos holds a doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Toronto. His doctoral research was carried out in one of Canada’s leading nanotechnology research groups, and involved an emerging class of optical materials known as photonic crystals. He is author and co-author of a number of highly cited publications in top-tier journals, including Nature Materials and Advanced Materials, and has presented his doctoral research at numerous scientific conferences worldwide.

Prior to beginning his doctoral study, Evangellos gained engineering experience in the semiconductor industry in both start-up R&D and high-volume manufacturing environments with a global manufacturer. He is also the primary inventor on a number of patents relating to semiconductor processing methods.

In his spare time, Evangellos enjoys skiing, playing tennis, and world travel.
