Introduction

Most people have ideas. Some may be simple ideas that arise during everyday living: some may be complex ideas developed during years of research and experimentation. Of these ideas, some may become worthwhile commercial developments; others, prestigious scientific contributions or simply interesting amusements.

This booklet is designed, generally, to identify what manner of protection may be available to preserve and protect innovative ideas and what may be considered in marketing those ideas.

It is hoped that this material will also answer some frequently asked questions and suggest some areas of interest to creative individuals. However, it is not intended to be an opinion or statement of law. You are encouraged to ask your lawyer, patent agent and/or trade-mark agent for up-to-date information, advice and guidance applicable to your circumstances.
